The Role
The Go1 Information Security team is e xpanding to ensure we can effectively protect the data and systems of Go1 learners and support Go1 reaching 1 billion learners securely. The Information Security team has a broad scope within Go1 from governance, incident response, security architecture and application security.
As an Information Security Engineer, you will develop a deep understanding of the Go1 platform focusing on how we secure the systems and data of our learners as well as working closely with our Security Analyst(s) on building automation to support our incident response procedures . This role will have a heavy focus on scripting/software development and will report to the Information Security Manager.
What does an Information Security Engineer do every day at Go1?
Working as an Information Security Engineer at Go1 will include the following:
- Work with the Go1 Engineering team in reviewing the security impacts of new product features and changes to existing software
- Supporting the Information Security Analyst(s) by building integrations or automations to solve common information security tasks
- Triage and replicate externally reported security issues with the Go1 platform (primarily application vulnerabilities)
- Identify security issues or security improvements relating to the Go1 Platform and work with the engineering teams to mitigate or implement fixes
- Support the Information Security Analyst(s) with incident response tasks where applicable
- Work with external penetration testing providers during our regular testing
- Support other departments in Go1 such as IT and Engineering to implement security tooling appropriately
- Provide support relating to Go1 compliance requirements such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2
About you
To be successful as an Information Security Engineer at Go1 you will need to possess the following:
- Previous experience as an Information Security Engineer or Application Security Engineer
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) or programming languages
- Experience using version control (e.g., Git) and version control platforms (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket)
- Experience creating, maintaining integrations with security tooling (e.g., SIEM, EDR etc) primarily using APIs
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM templates etc
- Experience working with public cloud and SaaS services e.g., Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365 etc
- Thorough understanding of public cloud security, web application security and general application security
- Working knowledge of incident response processes
- Strong communication and documentation skills in particular relating to cross departmental collaboration
Nice to have:
- Information Security certifications e.g., CISSP, CCSP, OSCP etc
- Cloud vendor certifications e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer, AWS Certified Security – Specialty etc
- Presenting about current or emerging information security/cyber security /application security topics at local meetups or industry conferences
