About The Role
Sunbytes is actively seeking a highly skilled Java Engineer (Senior or Principle level) to join an in-office, full-time role with our Japanese client in their SaaS company specializing in providing cloud services . You will have a chance to join one of Japan's leading IT companies, in a well-equipped and professional environment with a clear path for career development.

As a Java Engineer , you will join their existing team (existing projects) in every phase from Outline Design, Detail Design, Development/Implementation, Code review, Unit test, and Release. During your time here, you will be trained to develop to Tech Lead/Solution Architect as your next step in the career.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Manager (PM) and project development members to analyze product specifications, specification changes, and new additional functions.
• Participate in project development as a Middle/Senior Software Engineer from the Outline Design, Detail Design, Development/Implementation, Code review, Unit test, Release stages.
• You can be trained to become a Principal Software Engineer.
• Design Database, develop functions, and support team members.
• Do other tasks assigned by the PM.

Job Requirements

Technical must-haves

• At least 4 years of experience in web application programming with: Java
• Proficiency in Spring and/or Springboot
• Proficiency in database tools like PostgreSQL, MySQL.

Technical nice-to-haves

• Experience in front-end frameworks in JavaScript, jQuery.
• Experience in Struts, Seasar2, Hibernate…
• Experience with Automation testing (unit test): Jmeter, JUnit, Selenium
• Experience with DevOps: Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker

Soft skills must-haves

• Ability to create/present easy-to-understand technical documentation and share knowledge with colleagues
• Ability to research to solve technical problems.
• Read and understand documents in English well (spoken English communication is a plus)

• Work as software engineer on the web-based application product in JAVA-related and open-source technologies
• Develop and enhance product offerings in accordance with design, consistent with business objectives
• Continuously research and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

• Provide continuous support and guidance to less senior colleagues through regular coaching activities and support them in fulfilling their personal development plans

What you should have

• Proven hands-on experience with
  Java and Spring ecosystem and Microservices
• Proven experience designing and consuming

• Cùng Quản lý dự án (PM) và các thành viên phát triển dự án phân tích đặc điểm kỹ thuật của sản phẩm, các thay đổi đặc điểm kỹ thuật và các chức năng mới bổ sung .

• Tham gia vào phát triển các dự án với vai trò Middle/Senior Software Engineer từ giai đoạn Outline Design, Detail Design, Development/Implementation, Code review, Unit test, Release. Hoặc được đào tạo để trở thành Principal Software Engineer.

• Thiết kế Database, phát triển các chức năng đồng thời support các thành viên trong team.

• Làm các công việc khác theo sự phân công của PM.

Job Descriptions:

• Perform hands-on coding and code review as other peer developers as needed
• Understand the requirements of the customer or business and utilize this knowledge to develop applications that are consistent with this
• Design, develop, review, implement, maintain and manage continuous integration, build management and deployment scripts, systems, and any code as required
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities: daily standup, demo session, retrospective, estimate, and planning, etc
• Provide mentoring/training for junior members if any
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Line Manager

Job Requirements:

Must have:

• 5+ years of experience
• Fluent with Java to develop enterprise web-based applications
• Strong experience with OOP designs and design patterns
• Strong experience with web-based technologies: Spring (Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Boot) and ORM (JPA, Hibernate)
• Familiar with DevOps techniques (CI/CD, IaC tools, containerization, and orchestration, etc.)
• Good experience with unit testing: JUnit, mock
• Experience with software development principles such as SOLID, DRY
• Experience with writing efficient SQL queries
• Experience with Web Services (REST, etc.)
• Experience in microservices and cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• At least an upper-intermediate skill level in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with HTML/ CSS/ SCSS/ JavaScript/ Bootstrap
• Experience with one of the following JavaScript frameworks: ReactJS, Angular

Your responsibilities

• Participate in innovative software development life cycle using agile methodologies
• Adhere to the coding standards, best practices, common design patterns & principles
• Delivery of high quality software together with the team, including design, code, troubleshooting, tests, documentation
• Write the technical design and detailed design for the tasks
• Self-manage tasks as per the timelines and quality

Your qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Good knowledge of OOP, SOLID principles, Design pattern, data modeling
• Able to read and write technical documents in the English language
• Good technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Passionate, pro-active and keen to learn new technologies (or moving to mission part)
• Experience in the Java technology and ecosystem
• Experience in SQL and database management systems
• Knowledge of Javascript, HTML, XML, CSS
• At least 2 years experience in software development of this applied stack

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Backend Engineer with over 5 years of experience in designing and developing scalable, high-performance systems. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering solutions for client projects, collaborating with teams, and building modern, secure, and resilient microservices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement microservices with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Work with MongoDB for data modeling, queries, and performance optimization.
• Build and manage real-time event-driven systems using Kafka.
• Integrate modern authentication and authorization technologies (e.g., OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect).
• Contribute to client projects by providing technical solutions and ensuring business needs are met.
• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth communication between engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and technical decision-making.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance in production environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Java backend engineer.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and Maven build tools.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB (schema design, aggregation pipelines, performance tuning).
• Solid understanding of Apache Kafka for messaging and streaming.
• Practical knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Fair to strong knowledge of authentication/authorization technologies (OAuth2, JWT, SSO).
• Proven ability to work on client-facing projects, with strong problem-solving and solution-delivery skills.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to thrive in collaborative team environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience in insurance, banking, finance, or big data domains.
• Knowledge of JavaScript (for integration or full-stack collaboration).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
